Online Taxi Driver Found Dead with Feet Bound in Deli Serdang Sugarcane Field

RA (25), an online taxi driver, was found dead in a sugarcane field in Bulu Cina Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang, on Thursday evening. His feet were bound and his body showed signs of severe beating. The victim, a resident of Medan Helvetia, is believed to have been robbed and murdered by his passengers. His vehicle, a Daihatsu Ayla, was missing from the scene.

Head of Sub-Directorate III of Violent Crimes at the North Sumatra Police, Kompol Jama Kita Purba, stated that officers had been deployed to the location to collect evidence and search the surrounding area. “We have been at the scene conducting an investigation. Hopefully, this case can be resolved soon,” he said on Friday.

Initial police findings confirmed the victim worked as an online taxi driver. The investigation team has identified a suspected perpetrator and questioned several key witnesses whose statements have strengthened the case. Internal police sources indicate that a man suspected of direct involvement in the violent theft has been detained.
