Online Shop Owners Can Receive Discounts on Ecommerce Commissions: Here Are the Conditions
Jakarta — CNBC Indonesia — The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) will issue a Ministerial Regulation governing micro and small enterprises that sell on e-commerce platforms. One of its provisions is an incentive for such entrepreneurs: a 50% discount on service fees. For example, a service fee of Rp 30,000 would be reduced to Rp 15,000.
These incentives will be offered only to those who join the SAPA UMKM system, which will be integrated with the marketplace ecosystem. “So they will be onboarded into the SAPA UMKM system, then we will integrate them with the marketplace, and they will be included directly in it,” he explained.
The determination of which sellers fall into the micro and small categories will be defined later within the SAPA UMKM system. Therefore, it is important to integrate across systems to ensure fairness, oversight, and a mechanism.
System integration will be completed within a maximum of six months. Meanwhile, the ministerial regulation will take effect immediately after it is issued. “The integration across systems will be completed within a maximum of six months. We will, certainly, move quickly to carry out the integration,” he said.
According to Maman, platform operators have welcomed the rule. The regulation concerns service fees; because the ministry cannot dictate pricing in detail, with each platform having different advertising practices and pricing structures, those matters should be resolved through pricing agreements in contracts. “Because each platform has different practices—some advertise, some don’t, and pricing structures vary—these matters should be determined in pricing arrangements. But it must be agreed upon in the contractual agreement,” Maman said.
