Online Motorcycle Taxi Driver Dies After Being Sideswiped by Truck in Palmerah, West Jakarta
An online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver has died after being involved in a road accident in Palmerah, West Jakarta. The electric motorcycle ridden by the victim, identified by the initials MRA (20), was involved in a collision with a truck.
“The victim sustained injuries to the head and died at the scene,” said AKP Joko Siswanto, Head of the Traffic Accident Unit at West Jakarta Metro Police, on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
The accident occurred on Jalan Kemanggisan Raya heading east in the Palmerah area at around 10.30am local time. The victim and the truck were travelling along the same stretch of road, namely Jalan Kemanggisan Raya towards the east.
“The truck was travelling along Jalan Kemanggisan Raya from west to east, then turned into the left lane. As it turned, it struck the electric motorcycle which was travelling straight ahead on its left side,” he said.
The victim’s body was taken to Tangerang Regency Regional General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The victim, a resident of Kemanggisan, Palmerah, was riding an electric motorcycle with registration number B-4420-SVF.
“The cause of the accident is still under investigation,” he said.
The truck, with registration number B-9655-BYU, was driven by Slamet Joko Mulyono (28). The truck sustained damage to its front body, which was dented.
Police have secured evidence including the truck and motorcycle involved in the accident, as well as the truck driver’s driving licence and the electric motorcycle. Police have processed the scene of the accident and are searching for witnesses to investigate the case further.
