Online Motorcycle Taxi Driver Arrested in Yogyakarta for Distributing 84,000 'Koplo' Pills and Methamphetamine
An online motorcycle taxi driver with the initials IRW (22) has been arrested by the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Yogyakarta City Police for allegedly distributing dangerous hard drugs in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Police suspect IRW used his profession as an online motorcycle taxi driver to disguise the distribution of ‘koplo’ pills to buyers.
KBO of the Yogyakarta City Police Narcotics Unit, Ipda Makruf Agung Kurniawan, stated that IRW was apprehended while about to conduct a cash on delivery transaction on Jalan Raya Janti, Banguntapan, Bantul, on Sunday (14/6/2026) at around 10.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. The arrest was led directly by the Head of the Yogyakarta City Police Narcotics Unit, AKP Andi Fitriyansyah.
From IRW, police found 3,000 white pills stamped with the letter ‘Y’ and several psychotropic drugs. ‘IRW was arrested while allegedly distributing hard drugs. From further investigation, we managed to secure suspect GSP along with evidence of 81,000 pills stamped with the letter Y. The suspect did not only distribute in Yogyakarta, but also in Central Java,’ said Makruf on Tuesday (30/6/2026).
After arresting IRW, police conducted a follow-up investigation at the suspect’s house in Kemirirejo, Magelang City, Central Java. At the location, officers found a packet of methamphetamine weighing approximately 0.1 grams, a bong, Hexymer pills, and the psychotropic drug Riklona Clonazepam. In a preliminary examination, IRW admitted to obtaining all the items from a man with the initials GSP (26), a resident of Mertoyudan, Magelang, who works daily as a fruit seller.
Based on this confession, police moved to arrest GSP on Monday (15/6/2026) at around 9.30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. From GSP, police seized 81,000 pills stamped with the letter ‘Y’ packed in 81 plastic bags, each containing 1,000 pills.
Makruf revealed that the syndicate had been operating for almost two years, with a marketing area covering the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java. To avoid suspicion, IRW used online motorcycle taxi attributes and a vehicle when delivering orders to buyers.
