Online Gambling Headquarters in Hayam Wuruk Raided, Pramono: Hopefully It Serves as a Deterrent to Anyone
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung hopes that the raid on the online gambling (judol) headquarters in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta, will create a deterrent effect for the public and other perpetrators.
“Hopefully this firm action is not half-hearted, so it can create a deterrent effect for anyone who has the intention to engage in online gambling in Jakarta,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Pramono appreciated the decisive steps taken by the police in raiding the international network’s judol headquarters. He requested that the legal process be carried out seriously and that the perpetrators be punished as severely as possible.
“They are attracted by the promises, but in reality, this is very damaging,” said Pramono.
Pramono emphasised that judol activities are illegal because they are conducted covertly and without official permission.
“Yes, this is called judol, and it is definitely a clandestine activity, with no permit, and this action definitely violates the law,” he added.
Previously, Bareskrim Polri and Polda Metro Jaya raided a building on Hayam Wuruk Street, West Jakarta, which was used as the centre for an international online gambling network.
The Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, said that fully armed Brimob personnel were deployed to secure the location during the raid process.
In the raid, hundreds of foreign nationals were arrested, consisting of 228 Vietnamese, 57 Chinese, 13 Myanmar, 11 Laotian, five Thai, and three each from Malaysia and Cambodia.
“True, Brimob Unit personnel from Polda Metro Jaya were deployed to the location to provide security support for the area. This was done to ensure the smooth operation of the investigators in the field in collecting evidence and securing the suspected perpetrators,” said Budi in his statement on Saturday (9/5/2026).
The online gambling headquarters was known to be on the 20th and 21st floors of an office building without any company name signage.
The Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Wira Satya Triputra, stated that the syndicate is suspected of using 75 domains and websites to run its operations.
“Investigators have found approximately 75 domains and websites suspected of being used as online gambling facilities,” said Brigadier General Pol Wira Satya Triputra, Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, during a press conference on Saturday (9/5/2026).
“(The domains) use certain character combinations and gambling label variables to avoid blocking,” he revealed.
