The National Ojol Coalition (KON) and 98 Resolution Network have expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Online Transport Workers. The regulation, among other things, stipulates a reduction in application service fees to a maximum of 8 per cent starting 1 July 2026, a move deemed to strengthen legal certainty and protection for online transport driver partners. KON Chairman Andi Kristiyanto assessed the regulation as a crucial step by the state in providing better legal certainty and protection for millions of online transport workers in Indonesia. ‘For years, online transport driver partners have carried out their work amidst unclear partnership relations, minimal social protection, and various platform policies often considered detrimental to drivers,’ Andi stated in a written release on Tuesday. ‘Therefore, the presence of Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 marks an important momentum in building a fairer, sustainable online transport ecosystem that sides with driver partners,’ he added. The coalition also conveyed its appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto and all parties who contributed to the formulation of the regulation, including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who actively pushed for the policy to reduce application service fees to a maximum of 8 per cent, effective 1 July 2026. Meanwhile, 98 Resolution Network Spokesperson Poltak Agustinus Sinaga added that the success of the regulation is determined not only by its enactment but also by consistent implementation that favours online transport workers as platform partners. ‘There is an important note we wish to convey on this occasion, namely the hope that the government will remain present in safeguarding the partnership ecosystem between platform operators and ojol drivers,’ Poltak stated.
