OnePlus 16 to feature 9,000 mAh battery capacity

Ahead of its launch in China on 12 October, OnePlus has confirmed a substantial increase in battery capacity for its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16.

According to a report from GSM Arena on Friday (2/10), OnePlus executive Li Jie Louis revealed via a Weibo post that the OnePlus 16 will be equipped with a 9,000 mAh battery. This represents an increase of 1,700 mAh compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 15, which utilised a 7,300 mAh battery. The OnePlus 16 will also support wireless charging with up to 50W power.

In addition to the battery capacity upgrade, OnePlus has previously confirmed several other specifications for the OnePlus 16. The device will feature a 200-megapixel main rear camera and will be available in three colour options.

Regarding the display, the OnePlus 16 will utilise a panel with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, while the overall system will support a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. For performance, the OnePlus 16 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, which is designed to enhance power efficiency.

The OnePlus 16 is scheduled to debut in China on 12 October. Information regarding its pricing and availability in the global market has not yet been disclosed.
