One Year On: Danantara Reflects on Reform and Efficiency Measures for State-Owned Enterprises
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Sovereign Wealth Fund, known as Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara or BPI Danantara, celebrated its first anniversary on February 24, 2026.
Danantara was officially inaugurated by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as a holding company for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), also tasked with co-investing in natural resources and state assets to stimulate the economy.
Upon its introduction, Danantara was projected to manage funds exceeding $900 billion, equivalent to approximately Rp 14,000 trillion.
A year later, Danantara has undertaken various initiatives, including fundamental improvements to SOE operations and ongoing consolidation efforts.
“Ensuring that state assets are managed in a more integrated, disciplined, focused, and long-term manner for the future of Indonesian investment,” Rosan wrote in a post quoted from his personal Instagram account @rosanroeslani, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
In the same post, he stated that in the future, SOEs would no longer operate independently but would move in harmony within a national orchestration.
Furthermore, the governance of SOEs continues to be strengthened, investment directions are unified, global trust is built, and cross-country collaboration is expanded.
In its future journey, the strategic steps taken by Danantara are based on the principles of credibility, transparency, and a commitment to providing sustainable added value.
“This is the essence of One Danantara: one vision, one movement, one strength for a stronger Indonesia,” he added.
Similarly, Danantara’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir, also shared his reflections on Danantara’s first year through his social media account.
Pandu sees February 24 as a pleasant coincidence or serendipity, as it is also the birthday of his late father, Dr. Sjahrir.
“This moment makes me not only remember my father as a family member but also reflect on the foundations and values he instilled in me from the beginning,” Pandu wrote on his Instagram account @pandusjahrir.
Pandu recounted that his father taught values not only through grand words or slogans but also through daily practices.
One of the things he remembers is maintaining integrity when no one is watching, taking on responsibilities that go beyond oneself, and being brave enough to make decisions but remaining humble to continue learning.
“And building something that can live longer than our own names,” he wrote.
Furthermore, Pandu tries to translate these values into Danantara Indonesia.
He strives to build an institution that does not rely on one figure, one era, or one particular situation.
Pandu believes that Danantara is an institution rooted in long-term responsibility for Indonesia.
