President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised the importance of integrity and disciplined governance in managing state assets. He made this statement whilst attending a one-year reflection event for Danantara Indonesia at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Tuesday, 11 March. He assessed that the institution must ensure state investments are managed professionally and with a long-term orientation.

According to Prabowo, the existence of Danantara represents an effort to improve the management of national wealth to provide greater benefits for national economic development.

“We are grateful that Indonesia now has a state investment management institution that can be compared with sovereign wealth funds at the global level. Over this past year, it has become evident that with good management, disciplined governance, and strong commitment, the performance of state asset management can increase significantly. However, this achievement is only the beginning. Going forward, we must continue to strengthen governance and improve performance so that state asset management truly provides maximum benefits for the Indonesian people,” Prabowo said.

The reflection activity was attended by several Cabinet ministers and Danantara leadership. The event adopted the theme “One Danantara,” which illustrates efforts to unite the direction of state-owned enterprise management in supporting national economic development.

Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani stated that the institution’s first year was focused on establishing the foundation for governance and a sustainable investment direction.

“State asset management must ultimately provide real impact for the nation’s future. Therefore, commitment to the development of future generations is also an important part of Danantara Indonesia’s journey,” Roeslani said.

Beyond highlighting institutional strengthening, Danantara’s one-year anniversary was also marked by social activities involving the symbolic distribution of 88,000 school supply packages to children across various regions in Indonesia. This programme was carried out by several state-owned enterprises as part of support for educational access.

One state-owned enterprise involved was PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). KAI’s Chief Executive Officer, Bobby Rasyidin, said the company distributed school supply packages to approximately 4,000 students across 30 schools in various areas in Central Java.

“KAI hopes that this school supply assistance can provide direct benefits to students in their daily learning activities. Support for education is part of our contribution in supporting the growth of young generations who have greater opportunities to develop and achieve a better future,” Bobby said.

Roeslani added that Danantara’s initial phase was focused on establishing institutional direction before expanding the role of state investment in various strategic sectors.

“This first year is a phase of building institutional direction. Going forward, our focus is to ensure that this direction is translated into real performance, through strong governance, professional state asset management, and strategic investments that provide benefits for the national economy and the future of the Indonesian people,” Roeslani concluded.
