Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has acknowledged that the capital's fundamental problems remain unresolved after one year of his leadership alongside Deputy Governor Rano Karno. Traffic congestion, flooding, and air pollution were cited as the principal challenges still confronting his administration.

"The basic problems are still there: congestion persists, flooding persists, and then there is still the pollution issue. These are specifically what we want to at least reduce from current levels," Pramono said when met at Taman Bendera Pusaka in South Jakarta on Friday, 20 February 2026.

The statement coincided with the first anniversary of the inauguration of the two Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politicians — the Pram-Doel duo — who were sworn in to lead Jakarta on 20 February 2025 at the State Palace. According to Pramono, the one-year milestone serves as an occasion for both reflection and evaluation of the policies implemented thus far.

At the time of the election, the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) declared the Pramono Anung–Rano Karno ticket the winner with 2,183,239 votes, or 50.07 per cent. The Ridwan–Suswono pairing garnered 1,718,160 votes, or 39.40 per cent, whilst Dharma Pongrekun–Kun Wardana received 459,230 votes, or 10 per cent.

The first anniversary was marked at Taman Bendera Pusaka together with regional government officials. "This event also serves as a moment of contemplation, as we wish to receive input and suggestions from various people who have benefited from our policies," Pramono said.

Pramono noted that his administration has carried out a number of priority programmes, but conceded that Jakarta's perennial problems have not been fully untangled. He has set a target of at least gradually reducing these issues throughout 2026.

On flood management, the provincial government is continuing a large-scale river normalisation programme covering three major rivers in Jakarta. "We will continue the large-scale river normalisation for the Ciliwung, Cakung Lama, and Krukut rivers. This also includes dredging and normalisation works in West Jakarta," he said.
