One Week Before Eid, 7.2 Million Taxpayers Have Filed Annual Tax Returns
Jakarta — The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) at the Ministry of Finance reported that by the second week of March 2026, 7,205,109 taxpayers had filed their Annual Tax Returns (SPT).
According to DJP data from the Ministry of Finance as of 10 March 2026, the breakdown comprised 6,400,602 individual salaried employees, 649,033 non-salaried individuals, and 150,483 corporate entities in Indonesian rupiah, plus 119 corporate entities in US dollars, for the financial year from January to December 2025.
Additionally, 1,251 corporate entities with different financial years filed in rupiah, and 21 corporate entities filed in US dollars.
Previously, the Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Bimo Wijayanto, announced the possibility of extending the annual tax return filing deadline for individual taxpayers, given that the 17 March deadline coincides with the Eid al-Fitr public holidays.
Wijayanto stated that an evaluation would be conducted approximately one week before Eid. Should filing trends show a positive trajectory, the deadline may remain unchanged.
“We will assess the situation one week before Eid. If the filing graph shows an upward trend, the deadline for individual taxpayers will likely remain as scheduled,” Wijayanto told reporters at the Dhanapala Tower in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
Nevertheless, Wijayanto emphasised that the tax authority had prepared contingency measures should an extension be necessary. He added that any such proposal would first be submitted to the Finance Minister for approval.
“However, we are prepared with contingency measures depending on our confidence level one week before Eid. I will submit any proposal to the Minister first for permission,” he said.
