Indonesia’s Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas) has officially implemented a situational one-way traffic management system on the Trans-Java Toll Highway, effective Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 3:00 PM. This measure was taken in response to a significant increase in vehicle volume during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus heading eastbound.

The Head of the Traffic Police Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, explained that this policy represents the first phase before the implementation of a nationwide one-way system scheduled for the following day. The focus area for this afternoon’s traffic engineering spans from kilometre 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road (Cikatama) to kilometre 263 on the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road (West Brebes).

Before the roadway was fully opened for eastbound traffic, police officers conducted lane clearing operations from midday onwards to ensure that no vehicles from Central Java heading towards Jakarta would be stranded on the Trans-Java toll road.

“After conducting the clearance, at 3:00 PM we will implement the one-way system from kilometre 70 to 263,” said Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho in Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the Central Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Artanto, added that several toll gates in the region would be closed for the westbound lane (towards Jakarta). The closures were implemented at the West Brebes Toll Gate (KM 263) and Pejagan Toll Gate (KM 249). The public intending to travel to Jakarta were advised to use arterial or national roads during the traffic engineering period.

This situational one-way implementation represents a swift response to traffic accounting data showing vehicle flow increases earlier than predicted. The Kakorlantas expressed optimism that this traffic management engineering measure would facilitate smoother travel for holiday travellers heading to Central and East Java regions.

Meanwhile, comprehensive nationwide one-way traffic engineering spanning kilometre 72 to kilometre 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate remained scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 18 March 2026 at 10:00 AM. This measure was designed to anticipate the peak of the 2026 Eid holiday exodus, anticipated to occur on that date.

The Indonesian National Police also urged holiday travellers to continuously monitor current information through navigation applications and comply with officer instructions in the field for shared safety during their 2026 Eid holiday journey.
