REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo and several other high-ranking officials opened the implementation of the national one-way return flow for Lebaran 2026 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Central Java, on Tuesday (24/3/2026). On that occasion, he asked the public to make use of all the facilities prepared by the government to maintain travel safety.

The opening of the national one-way was carried out after previously implementing a local one-way scheme (in segments). Up to 24 March, approximately 2,380,401 vehicles had passed through the toll roads during the mudik and return flow period.

“We are implementing the national one-way, which we estimate the peak of the return flow will occur today. Therefore, utilise all the facilities provided by the government, both in rest areas, service posts, and integrated posts, so that those who are tired can rest and not force themselves,” said Sigit.

He explained that the national one-way implementation is enforced from KM 414 Kalikangkung to KM 70 Cikatama. This traffic engineering is prepared to ease density while preventing bottlenecks towards Jakarta.

The use of functional toll roads and various other traffic engineering schemes are also prepared to maintain smooth vehicle flow. This step is expected to distribute vehicle volume more evenly.

Sigit also encouraged the public to utilise alternative modes of transportation as well as flexible work policies to reduce density during the peak return flow. “We have train facilities that can be a comfortable choice. There is also the Work From Anywhere policy that can be utilised to ease the peak return flow,” he stated.
