One-Way and Contraflow Traffic Management Schemes for Lebaran 2026 on Trans-Java Toll Road
KARAWANG – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has prepared several traffic management schemes to anticipate vehicle surges during the homecoming and return journeys for the 2026 Lebaran holiday on the Trans-Java Toll Road.
One key focus of the traffic arrangements is at the Cikampek Utama toll gate (also known as Cikatama), which serves as the meeting point for vehicles travelling from Jakarta towards the eastern regions of Java.
Ria Marlinda Paallo, Vice President Corporate Secretary and Legal of PT JTT, explained that this toll gate is one of the main barriers for vehicles travelling from the west towards the Trans-Java Toll Road and vice versa.
In addition to traffic management, the company is also preparing enhanced transaction services at toll gates to anticipate vehicle surges during the homecoming period.
“For the homecoming process, we will prioritise and optimise the toll booths to serve road users from Jakarta heading towards the eastern Trans-Java route. We can operate between 15 to 22 booths,” she said.
Additionally, JTT will operate the Cikatama 8 toll gate situationally during return traffic if queuing develops from the Trans-Java route heading towards Jakarta.
Ria explained that the smooth flow of homecoming and return traffic during Lebaran depends heavily on collaboration among various parties, including toll road operators, the government, and the police force.
“This includes directives from ministries to ensure the blockage of heavy vehicles, and also policies from the Head of Traffic Operations or the police force for traffic management,” she said.
“The one-way system starts from KM 70 in front of us here and extends to KM at the Kalikangkung toll gate in Semarang,” Ria stated.
She added that the one-way system is implemented following police discretion whilst considering various traffic parameters.
In addition to the one-way system, JTT is also preparing contraflow traffic management at several points on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road to alleviate vehicle congestion.
“For contraflow, there are usually several locations – at KM 47, KM 55, KM 65 on the Jakarta-Cikampek route. We will use bypass routes in collaboration with the police to ensure contraflow operations in these areas once they meet the parameters and receive police approval,” Ria said.
Meanwhile, during return traffic, contraflow can be reopened after the one-way system ends at KM 70 in Cikatama.
“Conversely, if return traffic proves sufficiently high, once the one-way system ends at KM 70 in Cikatama, we will reopen contraflow from KM 65 to KM 47,” Ria said.
