One Thousand Paspampres Personnel Deployed to Secure Independence Day Events
A total of 1,174 personnel from the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) and its main weaponry systems (alutsista) have been deployed to secure the series of events for the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.
Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha led the VVIP Security Task Force Readiness Parade to ensure preparedness at the Black Field of Paspampres Headquarters on Monday (10/8).
The thousands of Paspampres personnel were deployed into several security task forces, comprising: 151 personnel for the Honour Roll Call and Sacred Reflection (AKRS) on 14 August, 277 personnel for the DPR/MPR session on 15 August, and on 17 August, 294 personnel for the flag-raising and lowering ceremony, 205 personnel for the People’s Party event, 70 personnel for the Paskibraka team, and 150 personnel for the ceremonial troops team.
The readiness of the VVIP security task force is also supported by various state-of-the-art weaponry, materiel and modern operational vehicles owned by Paspampres, including: Caracal and Dasan rifles, SS1 V3 Croom, MP7, various pistols (G2 Combat, HK, Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 43X, and Sig Sauer), as well as Pindad SPR 3 and AW sniper rifles.
In addition, one Koopsudnas anti-drone vehicle and one Maung Air Defence Artillery vehicle have also been prepared.
Tactical vehicles placed on standby include: a CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive) vehicle, a jammer vehicle, G500 escort vehicles, G500 security vehicles, P2 Komando vehicles, Maung vehicles, and Goldwing escort motorcycles.
Edwin said the display of advanced weaponry is in line with the evolving characteristics of current threats, which are no longer limited to direct physical actions but also involve drone technology, cyber attacks, and the spread of information that can trigger security disturbances, as well as actions by individuals or groups that move quickly and are difficult to predict.
According to him, VVIP security must be carried out preventively and proactively by anticipating every potential threat from an early stage.
“For Paspampres, success is not only when we manage to neutralise a threat, but when that threat never has the opportunity to emerge at all. That is the true essence of the VVIP security task,” Edwin said in a written statement on Wednesday (12/8).
Edwin stressed that all personnel must understand that securing the 81st Independence Day events is both a duty and a noble mandate to safeguard the dignity of the institution, ensure the safety of VVIPs, and uphold the honour of the nation and state.
“Our success is often invisible to the public, but that is precisely where Paspampres professionalism is tested. We work in silence, with full vigilance, precision, speed, discipline, and solid coordination,” he said.
