The Secretariat of the Board of Trustees of Sunda Kelapa Grand Mosque has targeted 1,000 portions of iftar meals during Ramadhan, with some days reaching 1,300 servings, according to Ahmad Huraera, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, speaking in Jakarta on Saturday.

Huraera explained that the iftar meals are not merely light snacks or sweetened refreshments to be consumed after the Maghrib call to prayer, but are provided in the form of complete rice meal packages with side dishes.

“During the 30 days of fasting, our meals are in the form of complete rice packages. We aim for varied menus, preparing rice with a full range of side dishes,” said Huraera.

During the final ten nights of Ramadhan, the mosque management provides pre-dawn meals (sahur) for worshippers who are undertaking itikaf (spiritual retreat). The sahur meals are limited in quantity. “For the grand itikaf, we prepare approximately 2,000 meal boxes. However, many worshippers do bring their own food,” Huraera noted.

Regarding activities at the mosque during Ramadhan, one notable event is “Ramadankustik” scheduled for Saturday (21 February) and Sunday (22 February). The event, organised by the Sub-Office of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) of Central Jakarta, features public space arts performances.

The “Ramadankustik” event at Sunda Kelapa Mosque’s courtyard also collaborates with the Guiding Team of PKK (Family Welfare Movement) of Central Jakarta Administrative City, which is hosting a “Ramadan Bazaar” from 21-25 February 2026.

Additionally, a “Festival Beduk” (Drum Festival) will be organised by the Sub-Office of Culture of Central Jakarta Administrative City on 24-25 February 2026.
