One Projectile Found in Connection with Stray Bullet Incident Involving UNP Student on Campus

About 10 people have been recorded and their statements taken,” said the Head of Information of Kodam (Kapendam) XX Tuanku Imam Bonjol, Colonel Taufiq, in a statement to reporters at the Kodam headquarters, as reported by detikSumut, Wednesday (3/6/2026).

In the preliminary investigation, the team has so far found one projectile which was taken from the victim’s body.

“So far, only one projectile. Are there other projectiles, because there were two victims? That’s what we’re looking for. We continue to gather facts on the ground. There are still many questions that need to be answered regarding this incident, so the leadership has said, let’s immediately find the data and facts,” he said.

In addition to searching for projectiles, the investigation is also being carried out by examining a number of witnesses. A total of 10 witnesses have been examined.

“We did it at the time of the incident and we did it the next day. It came from Nova’s (the female victim) friends, about 3 or 4 people, and there were also personnel who carried out activities on that day,” he explained.

The stray bullet incident occurred on Tuesday (2/6/2026) afternoon in the front yard of the UNP Rectorate. Two people suffered gunshot wounds as a result of the incident.

Both are students and one is a family member of a student who was celebrating the completion of their comprehensive exam on campus.
