One Person Killed in a Carok Duel Between Neighbours in Lumajang

Reported by detikjatim, on Thursday (21 May 2026), the deceased was identified as Abdul Karim. He breathed his last at the scene as a result of a serious head wound from a stab injury. Meanwhile, his opponent, Wasil, sustained severe injuries to the abdomen and is undergoing intensive care at a hospital. Lumajang Police Crime Investigation Unit chief AKP Pras Ardinata revealed that the deadly carok duel occurred around 14:30 WIB in a sengon plantation not far from the homes of both parties. The incident was triggered by a trivial road dispute. ‘The two met on the road and briefly collided their motor vehicles. From there the argument ensued,’ Pras told detikJatim on Thursday (21 May 2026). Abdul Karim, inflamed with anger after the dispute, went home to fetch a celurit, a traditional Indonesian sickle knife.
