One officer killed, two missing during raid on suspected drug dealer in Central Kalimantan

A member of the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit in Central Kalimantan has died and two other personnel are reported missing following a raid on a suspected drug trafficker in Tumbang Kalemei village, Katingan Regency, early Thursday. Katingan Police Chief AKBP Dodik Hartono confirmed the incident, stating that the force is currently focused on searching for the two missing officers. The operation began with a raid on a suspected narcotics offender, during which officers managed to detain one suspect. However, after the suspect was secured, the suspect’s family suddenly attacked the officers using machetes. Officers on the ground then took firm and measured action, resulting in the death of one member of the suspect’s family. The resistance triggered other residents to arrive at the location, causing the situation to spiral out of control. The police personnel on duty attempted to secure themselves while bringing the situation under control. In the incident, Aipda Yudhi Perdana Putra was killed while carrying out his duties. Dodik added that the security situation in Tumbang Kalemei village has gradually become conducive. Police are continuing to secure the area while investigating the sequence of events that occurred during the operation. The suspect’s family has fled the location, and 50 personnel from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police have been deployed to provide assistance and support in handling the incident.
