One of the 'Asmoro' Gang Members Who Stole Goods from a Truck in Marunda Has Been Arrested
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - One perpetrator of the “asmoro” act, or theft from container trucks passing through Jalan Akses Marunda, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/2/2026), has been arrested.
The perpetrator, with the initials AP (25), was arrested near Jalan Akses Marunda on Thursday (26/2/2026).
“Thank God, we have secured the perpetrator who went viral,” said Cilincing Police Chief AKP Bobi Subasri to Kompas.com, Thursday.
AP is the perpetrator who was recorded in a video wearing black clothing.
“Only one has been secured so far. The one in the black jacket,” Bobi explained.
Previously, it was reported that two “asmoro” men were suspected of stealing from a container truck on Jalan Akses Marunda, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
Based on a video uploaded to the Instagram account @jakut_update, a man wearing a black jacket and trousers tried to pull an item from a moving truck.
The other man, wearing a blue-green shirt, ran on the sidewalk towards the truck, which was allegedly the target of the theft.
The video was recorded from a vehicle directly behind the truck. The sound of the truck’s horn can be heard several times while the two men were committing the theft.
Shortly after, the man wearing the black jacket was seen taking an object, allegedly a jack.
According to the caption on the post, this act is called the “asmoro” phenomenon. It is said to occur frequently and harms drivers.
