One neighbourhood unit and one road in Jakarta flooded on Saturday night
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Flooding inundated one RT in Jagakarsa sub-district, South Jakarta, and Jalan Raya Bogor in Tengah sub-district, East Jakarta, on Saturday night.
The Head of the Data and Information Centre for Disaster Mitigation of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Mohamad Yohan, in Jakarta on Saturday, stated that until 21:00 WIB, the flooding in Jagakarsa submerged areas up to a height of 25 centimetres.
“The cause was high rainfall and the overflow of Kali Lenggong,” said Yohan.
Meanwhile, on Jalan Raya Bogor in Tengah sub-district, East Jakarta, the flooding submerged areas up to a height of 30 centimetres.
The DKI BPBD also mobilised personnel to monitor the pooling water conditions in each area and coordinate with the Water Resources Agency, Public Works Agency, and Gulkarmat Agency to carry out water pumping operations.
In addition, they ensured that water barriers were functioning properly in collaboration with local sub-district heads and district heads, and prepared basic necessities for survivors.
“The pooling water is targeted to recede quickly,” said Yohan.
They advised the public to remain cautious and alert to the potential for pooling water.
“In emergency situations, immediately contact the telephone number 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop,” concluded Yohan.
