One Month After Pamulang Landslide in South Tangerang, Residents Claim No Handling Yet
SOUTH TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com — Residents are complaining about the lack of concrete handling from the government following a landslide on Jalan Salak, Pondok Benda, Pamulang, South Tangerang, in early April 2026.
To date, the slope from the landslide remains vulnerable, especially during rain, forcing residents to carry out emergency measures independently.
One affected resident, Budi (not his real name), said the slope condition is still at risk of further landslides due to the absence of permanent repairs since the incident.
He mentioned that after the landslide, residents only cleared the soil materials on their own initiative. Even the emergency handling was done by installing bamboo as a soil retainer.
“The rest is just this soil that we’ve put bamboo on to hold the soil,” he said.
The landslide occurred on Saturday (4/4/2026) around 14:00 WIB when heavy rain hit the area. Budi suspects the landslide was triggered by water flow from the upper part of the slope, which lacks adequate drainage.
“The water from above is a lot, no drainage. So it flows down heavily like a waterfall, making the soil unstable and then it slides,” he said.
The landslide materials temporarily covered part of the area around residents’ houses at the bottom. However, the cleaning was done independently by residents without initial assistance from relevant parties.
He mentioned that village officials came on the day of the incident, followed by officials from relevant agencies the next day. Nevertheless, to date, there has been no follow-up in the form of permanent repairs.
“The village came that day too. As for BPBD or the agency, the next day. But they just looked around,” said Budi.
“Since the landslide, the wall (support) is destroyed and there are holes and water coming out from the soil,” he said.
According to him, the condition needs to be addressed immediately, especially by building drainage channels to control water flow.
He hopes the government will soon repair the landslide site while building drainage so that water does not directly seep into the soil and weaken the cliff structure.
“Hopefully there’s drainage up there, so the water doesn’t all come here,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kompas.com has attempted to contact the Public Relations of the South Tangerang Water Resources, Road and Bridge Construction Agency (DSDABMBK), Kemal Fauzie, but as of now, there has been no response.
