One Missing KMP Putri Yasmin Passenger Found Safe After Boarding Earlier Ferry
One of the five passengers from the KMP Putri Yasmin who were previously reported missing has been found safe and has returned home. The woman, named I Ratu Agung Sekar Ayu, did not actually sail on the ferry that caught fire because she chose to cross earlier using a different vessel.
Head of the Mataram Search and Rescue Agency (SAR), Muhammad Hariyadi, stated that the family had confirmed Ratu Agung’s whereabouts to the SAR Post at Lembar Port, West Lombok, on Friday (14/8/2026).
“We received information regarding the confirmation of the data on the five victims. For Ratu Agung Sekar Ayu, the family reported to the post that she had returned home safely,” Hariyadi said at Lembar Port on Friday (14/8/2026).
Ratu Agung was previously listed on the KMP Putri Yasmin passenger manifest because she had purchased a ticket for the ferry that caught fire on Wednesday (12/8). However, Ratu Agung subsequently changed her departure schedule. She opted to cross earlier on Sunday (9/8) using the KMP Surya 777.
“It turns out that Ratu Agung did not cross using the KMP Putri Yasmin on the 12th. The person concerned departed earlier. Because her name was recorded on the KMP Putri Yasmin manifest, she had bought a ticket for the KMP Putri Yasmin. But there was a change, and she moved her trip forward to the 9th using the KMP Surya 777,” Hariyadi explained.
With this confirmation, the number of KMP Putri Yasmin passengers still being searched for has decreased from five to four. The four people still being sought are: Yasir Arafat from Mataram City, NTB; Selvina Rambu Mayi from Sumba, NTT; I Made Sutarjana from Bali; and Slamet Yulianto from Bali.
Hariyadi said the SAR team will continue the search for the four victims. Meanwhile, the number of fatalities in the KMP Putri Yasmin incident remains at one person. “We thank the family, and there is a change in the data regarding what we are searching for, from five people to four. And the number of deceased victims remains one,” Hariyadi concluded.
The KMP Putri Yasmin caught fire while crossing the waters off Sekotong Beach, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), in the early hours of Wednesday (12/8/2026). Information about the incident was received by the Mataram SAR Office from the Captain of Rescue Boat (RB) 220 Mataram, Nurdin, at 04:39 Wita. A 50-second video received by detikBali showed plumes of smoke causing panic among the ferry passengers. All passengers were seen already wearing life jackets. A total of 212 victims were evacuated to Lembar Port and Padangbai, Karangasem, Bali. Of that number, one person was reported dead.
