One man dies as bus overturns

PADANG, West Sumatra: One man was killed and three others were injured when an intercity bus overturned on the slopes of Silaiang Kariang on Tuesday.

The Terang bus, which was on its way from Padang to Sibolga in North Sumatra, was climbing the steep slope when its engine suddenly stopped. The driver then lost control and the bus descended at high speed.

The bus, which was carrying some 30 passengers, hit a concrete barrier that stopped it from falling over the cliff, the Antara news agency reported. (emb)
