A member of the Karangasem Flag-Raising Squad (Paskibra), I Gede Vila Astrawan from SMAN 1 Kubu, has resigned. Head of the Karangasem National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol), I Ketut Indra Sutawan, stated that the reason for the resignation was personal. “We have received his resignation letter. Regarding the reason, we cannot disclose it. Because it is subjective, we do not wish to interfere in internal matters,” Sutawan said on Friday (17/7/2026). Kesbangpol immediately replaced Vila Astrawan with another participant, who is now attending training. The replacement was a participant with a lower ranking during the previous selection process. According to Sutawan, the Paskibra member who resigned had never participated in any activities since being declared successful. From preparation, uniform and shoe measurements, and other activities, he never attended, until he finally stated he wanted to resign. “But we did not want just a verbal statement; there had to be a signed letter. The resignation letter will serve as the basis for us to replace him, and now it is settled, the replacement has started training,” Sutawan said. Sutawan explained that all training materials are handled directly by the Karangasem District Military Command (Kodim 1623/Karangasem). It is known that there are 50 Paskibra members, consisting of 25 males and 25 females. Meanwhile, the Head of SMAN 1 Kubu, I Ketut Suba, revealed that the student who withdrew from the Karangasem Paskibra cited family problems as the reason. However, Suba also did not know the details of the issue as he had not yet met with the student. “Before the training camp, we invited him for a briefing with other students who also passed. But he did not attend,” Suba said. The school has also been unable to meet him because calls went unanswered. Moreover, the school is currently busy conducting the New Student Orientation (MPLS) for new students. “We also plan to contact the student’s parents to find out what really happened that led to his resignation from Paskibra,” Suba added.
