One injured, three homes gutted in fire

JAKARTA: A resident, Edy Sirait, was injured in a fire that gutted three houses on Jl. Bendi Besar, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night.

The police said on Thursday that the fire was believed to have been caused by a gas stove that exploded in Edy's house at around 8 p.m. The fire quickly spread to the two other houses.

Edy tried to save his father's belongings from the blaze but received an electric shock from an exposed power cable.

Thirteen fire trucks were deployed to put out the fire.

Police in Kebayoran Lama are still investigating the incident. -- JP
