One injured in BandarLampung blast
JAKARTA: An explosion in a house in Indonesia's Lampung province on Sumatra island injured one man on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The blast in the seaside Kota Karang area about two kilometers from the provincial capital Bandar Lampung was caused by explosives normally used for illegal fishing, said a local police officer.
"Reports from the scene suggested that the blast was an accident but we are still investigating other possible causes of the incident," the officer, who identified himself only as First Sergeant Sonny, told AFP by telephone.
One person who is believed to be the owner of the house was taken to hospital with severe injuries, said First Sergeant Daruji of the local military precinct.
Several parts of Indonesia have been hit by a series of blasts over the past three years.
