JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has conveyed the sad news of the passing of an Indonesian Hajj pilgrim due to a heart attack in Madinah.

Spokesperson for Kemenhaj RI, Ichsan Marsha, stated that the deceased pilgrim was named Rodiyah (68 years old), from the SOC III group originating from Solo.

“Kemenhaj extends its condolences over the passing of one Hajj pilgrim from the SOC-3 group, Rodiyah (68), due to a heart attack,” said Ichsan in an official statement on Friday (24/4/2026).

“The government ensures the fulfilment of the pilgrim’s rights, including the execution of a substitute Hajj,” he added.

Meanwhile, 93 pilgrims are undergoing outpatient treatment, two pilgrims have been referred to the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI), and one pilgrim has been referred to a Saudi Arabian Hospital (RSAS).

Amid this news, Kemenhaj has a message for pilgrims to maintain their physical condition while in Madinah.

Pilgrims are advised to be wary of the weather conditions expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius with humidity around 25 percent.

Ichsan continued, the government is giving serious attention to the health aspects of Hajj pilgrims, which are a focus of the Saudi authorities.

“Every report serves as a basis for strengthening services so that pilgrims can worship safely and comfortably,” he stated.

Kemenhaj emphasises that the 2026 Hajj must provide elderly-friendly, disability-friendly, and women-friendly Hajj services, as a form of the state’s commitment in Hajj worship services.
