Member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) RI Commission II for Agriculture, Plantations, and Transportation, Alfiansyah Bustami Komeng, conducted a working visit and immediately met with the Deputy Mayor of Tasikmalaya City, Rd Diky Candranegara, amid the ongoing disaster.

Alfiansyah Bustami, known as Komeng, stated that the working visit to Tasikmalaya City was primarily for halal bihalal greetings and to maintain ties with his friend Rd Diky Candranegara. However, the city was facing a disaster with dozens of fallen trees, homes damaged by strong winds, and flooding.

“We have contacted the Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims at the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) and the West Java Provincial Social Services to distribute aid to the disaster-affected residents. This aid is expected to help alleviate the burden on those impacted,” he said on Monday (30/3/2026).

According to him, the visit to Tasikmalaya City was not as an official committee member but as a concerned individual, particularly for residents affected by the natural disaster. He wished to gain merit by being useful to others in need. “I am a PMI member, Diky Candra is my friend, I have connections at Kemensos, so I must help Diky Candra’s residents,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tasikmalaya City’s Deputy Mayor, Diky Candranegara, expressed deep gratitude for Komeng’s concern for Tasikmalaya residents, likening his presence to an oasis in a barren desert. He hoped the aid channelled by Kemensos through West Java’s Social Services would help ease the burden on disaster victims.

“We request that the Social Services, together with the Tasikmalaya City BPBD, immediately send data on collapsed homes affected by the disaster, including those damaged by strong winds. For emergency aid, we are also asked to record homes damaged by the disaster and report them directly,” he explained.

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds caused dozens of homes to be flooded in Kampung Sumurgede, Kawalu Subdistrict, Bungursari Subdistrict, and several homes to be swept away, along with numerous fallen trees. The incident occurred on Sunday (29/3), with no fatalities, but one house collapsed, forcing its occupants to evacuate.

Unlike typical visits by senators or parliament members, which are often formal and serious, Komeng’s interactions with the farmers were filled with jokes and laughter.
