One Hajj pilgrim missing for six days as Kemenhaj forms a search team

Mecca — A Hajj pilgrim named Muhammad Firdaus Ahlan is unaccounted for after leaving a hotel in Mecca on 15 May 2026. He was last seen leaving the hotel without identification, wearing a white T-shirt and a sarong.

“One of the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, our fellow pilgrims who is still in the process of being located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia,” said Kemenhaj spokesperson Ichsan Marsha on Wednesday (20 May 2026).

Ichsan said Firdaus is part of Kloter JKG 27, Group 1 of KBIH Imam Bonjol. Kemenhaj expressed concern over the incident. Since the report was received, Ichsan added, the Kemenhaj team has immediately begun a comprehensive search. The search continues to this day.

“The characteristics of the pilgrim currently being sought are that he was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a sarong,” said Ichsan.

According to the reports received, Firdaus left the hotel on 15 May 2026. Kemenhaj received an official report from the Kawal Haji app on 16 May 2026.

“At present, the steps we have taken and are continuing to take range from collecting CCTV footage to information from other pilgrims who may have seen him,” said Ichsan.

In addition, hotel CCTV shows that Firdaus left at around 9 a.m. The hotel was quiet at that time as pilgrims prepared to perform Friday prayers.
