One fatality in Menteng clash dies in hospital
Jakarta - Police have disclosed that one victim of a clash that occurred in the Jalan Tambak area, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday has died after receiving medical treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, stated that two victims were previously evacuated from the scene to RSCM. “That is correct. The latest information is that of the two victims who were in critical condition when brought in, one has since died at the hospital,” Roby said on Sunday. According to Roby, the other victim remains in critical condition and is undergoing intensive care. The clash in the Jalan Tambak area occurred around 10.00 a.m. local time and is suspected to have been triggered by a dispute between residents and a number of individuals occupying vacant land. Police are still investigating the exact cause of the clash, including identifying the parties involved. In addition to causing casualties, the clash also resulted in buildings and vehicles being set on fire. Investigators are still processing the crime scene to ascertain the objects that were burned and the cause of the fire. So far, police have detained three people for questioning during the examination phase and have not yet named any suspects.
