One family in Jombang, East Java, consisting of Anjar Andrianto (29), his wife, and their daughter, were abducted and detained in Bangkalan. The kidnapping and hostage-taking were carried out by five people: Moh Zehri (41), Bahar (29), Nur Hidayah, Sidi, and Zainudin.

‘The brains behind it was NH (Nur Hidayah), a woman,’ he told reporters at the Jombang Police Headquarters, according to detikJatim, on Thursday 5 March 2026. Nur and the four men abducted the Anjar family because of a debt of Rp25 million. The dispute began when Anjar, under Nur’s instruction, delivered cigarettes with or without excise stamps from Bangkalan to Cirebon, West Java, some time ago.

When they reached Cirebon, a truck containing cigarettes valued at Rp90 million was stopped by an NGO. Afraid of legal trouble, Anjar handed over all the cigarettes owned by Nur to the NGO. Nur then demanded compensation. So far, Anjar has paid Rp70 million to Nur. ‘The remaining Rp25 million was continually pursued by NH, who eventually invited the other four suspects to forcibly take the victims,’ he explained.
