One dies, 18 go missing at sea

PEKANBARU, Riau: One person died and 18 others went missing Monday evening after their boat capsized in the sea near Pulau Muda village, Kampar regency, Riau.

"The speedboat Yani Express, which was carrying 50 passengers, was believed to have been hit by huge waves," Kampar administration secretary Azwar AS told Antara here Wednesday.

The dead boy has not been identified.

A marine task force had sent three patrol boats and two speedboats to search for the 18 missing people, Azwar said. An investigation into the accident had started.

The speedboat was on its way from Pangkalan Kerinci to Tanjung Batu.
