One dead, 15 injured in bus accident

JAKARTA: A Mayasari Bakti bus plying the Kampung Rambutan-
Tanjung Priok route collided on Sunday morning with a truck
belonging to Indocement on the Ir. Wijoto Wiyono toll road in
North Jakarta, killing one person and injuring 15 others.

Enday, 40, an assistant to the bus driver, died en route to
the hospital with severe injuries. Endang Haryadi Nadir, the bus
driver, suffered severe injuries to his head and legs.

Enday, a resident of Ciracas subdistrict in East Jakarta, was
taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.

The 15 people injured in the accident, all onboard the bus,
were taken to the nearby Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital.

Ten of the victims suffered severe injuries, while the other
five were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The victims included Asep Kusnadi, 36; Budi Riyanto; Acin bin
Sena, 39; Rido, 52; Misgiyo, 30; Maryati, 50; Adin, 35; Sri
Handayani, 35; Surahmat, 63; Sri Lestari, 50; Untung, 29;
Suhaeri, 37; Suhaeni, 50.

Eyewitnesses said the crowded bus hit the truck in front of
the Indonesian Business Institute, about 100 meters from the
Sunter tollgate. --JP.
