One Dead, 13 Injured as Umrah Pilgrims' Bus Crashes in Bandung Regency
A joint search and rescue team evacuated a passenger trapped in a bus crash involving PO Putra RB vehicle with registration number B 7854 ZAA on Jalan Raya Nagreg, Bandung Regency, West Java, in the early hours of Friday.
Head of the Bandung SAR Office, Ade Dian Permana, stated that the accident occurred around 00:25 WIB and his office received the information at 01:55 WIB.
“After receiving the information about the incident, a rescue team from the Bandung SAR Office was immediately dispatched to the location to support the evacuation process,” he said in Bandung on Friday.
A rescue team from the Bandung SAR Office was deployed to the scene at 02:05 WIB. Upon arrival, the team, together with joint SAR personnel, immediately evacuated the victim who was trapped inside the bus.
According to data collected, the accident involved 14 people, with a total of 13 declared survivors, while one person died.
After all victims were successfully evacuated and no further victims required assistance, a debriefing and evaluation of the operation was conducted at 03:30 WIB.
The SAR operation was then proposed for closure and all involved personnel were returned to their respective units.
“Yes (a group of Umrah pilgrims), while on a downhill road, the driver lacked concentration and awareness of the situation ahead, causing the vehicle to swerve to the right,” he said when confirmed.
The bus then crashed into the wall of a house on Jalan Raya Nagreg, resulting in injuries to several passengers, who were Umrah pilgrims, and the death of one victim.
