The government will soon announce a policy on working from home, or WFH, for one day per week. The policy is being announced today.

“Just be patient, be patient, I hear it’s very likely, possibly, to be officially conveyed tomorrow (today). So I don’t want to preempt it,” said Interior Minister Tito Karnavian after a working meeting with Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (30/3/2026).

Tito mentioned that after the official announcement, there will be directives to regional governments. Nevertheless, he did not wish to preempt the decision on the WFH day.

“Tomorrow (today) it will be announced,” he said.

Previously, the government has been formulating the one-day-per-week WFH as a measure to improve fuel oil efficiency due to the war in the Middle East (Timteng). Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the decision has been set this week.

“It’s already been set this week,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in receiving US businessman Ray Dalio at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday (27/3).

Airlangga said the government will soon announce the WFH day for government employees. Airlangga assessed that the WFH day announcement will not extend beyond March.

“As soon as possible, since there are only a few days left in the month. So there’s still time,” said Airlangga.
