One Day Before Eid, 50,636 Train Passengers Depart from Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 50,636 train passengers departed from Jakarta across various stations in the PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 1 Jakarta region on Friday, or one day before Eid (H-1 Lebaran) 2026, while the arrival volume was recorded at 18,162 passengers.
Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, stated that Pasar Senen Station had the highest departure volume, with 18,802 passengers, followed by Gambir Station with 16,847 passengers and Bekasi with 8,647 passengers.
“Meanwhile, the highest arrivals were at Pasar Senen Station with 7,061 passengers, Gambir with 4,559 passengers, and Jatinegara with 2,343 passengers,” he said in Jakarta.
PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta provided a total seating capacity of 1,083,623 seats during the 2026 Eid transportation period. The cumulative number of passengers who have purchased and booked tickets for the period from 11 March to 1 April 2026 has reached 767,829 tickets.
“The average occupancy rate (seat fill rate) for the period from 11 March to 1 April 2026 is 71 percent (dynamic data),” said Franoto.
PT KAI also introduced a fare discount programme of up to 30 percent for commercial economy class during the period from 14 to 29 March 2026. Nationally, 1.2 million seats were provided.
The special allocation for Daop 1 Jakarta is 329,000 seats, with approximately 46,000 seats remaining.
“We invite the public to take advantage of the remaining available tickets, especially for the return flow period, and to arrive early at the stations to ensure smooth travel,” said Franoto.
Daily, PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta operates 68 regular long-distance passenger trains, 13 additional Eid trains from Gambir Station, seven additional Eid trains from Pasar Senen Station, and four free motor trains.
Referring to the data, several favourite long-distance trains for departures from Gambir Station include Pandalungan, Argo Semeru, Gunungjati, Cakrabuana, Pangandaran, and Batavia.
Meanwhile, for departures from Pasar Senen, they are Bengawan, Airlangga, Serayu, Kertajaya, Jayakarta, and Progo. “The favourite destinations for passengers during the Eid transportation period are Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Purwokerto, Bandung, and Jember,” said Franoto.
