JAKARTA - The flow of mudik passengers using trains from the Jakarta Operational Region (Daop) 1 continues to rise, reaching 50,636 passengers on H-1 Eid, Friday (20/3/2026). Thousands of these passengers departed from various stations in Jakarta and its surroundings, with the highest volume recorded at Pasar Senen Station. Meanwhile, the number of passengers arriving in Jakarta on the same day reached 18,162 people. This data indicates the peak movement of mudik travellers via train ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, stated that Pasar Senen Station was the departure point with the highest number of passengers. For arrivals, Pasar Senen Station also recorded the highest figure with 7,061 passengers, followed by Gambir Station with 4,559 passengers and Jatinegara Station with 2,343 passengers. Cumulatively, since the start of the Eid transportation period on 11 March until 20 March 2026, the number of passengers departing from the Daop 1 Jakarta region reached 482,596 people. During the same period, the long-distance train occupancy rate was recorded at 71 per cent, with total ticket sales reaching 767,829 tickets. From the total capacity provided, more than 300,000 seats are still available until early April 2026. “We invite the public to take advantage of the remaining tickets still available, especially during the return flow period, and to arrive early at the stations to ensure smooth journeys,” said Franoto.
