One Day Before Eid 2026, Nearly 800,000 Train Tickets for Homecoming Still Available

As many as 799,009 train tickets for the 2026 Eid homecoming are still available for purchase until one day before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, on Friday (20/3/2026). PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded sales of 3.7 million tickets for the 2026 Eid transportation period, or 82.2 percent of the total 4.5 million from 11 March 2026 to 1 April 2026. This figure includes quotas for Long-Distance Trains (KA) and Local Trains. “The trend of homecoming travel by train continues to strengthen since mid-March. This is evident from the gradual increase in ticket sales, especially for long-distance train services which are the choice of the public for inter-city travel,” said KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in an official statement on Friday (20/3/2026). Meanwhile, for Local Train services managed by KAI, ticket sales reached 407,566 tickets or 44.0 percent of the total 926,936 available seats. Thus, there are still 519,370 seats that can be utilised by customers. Sales of Local Train tickets are generally expected to continue moving closer to the departure date because most services can only be booked starting from H-7. This figure still has the potential to increase along with ongoing ticket sales. Anne added that occupancy rates above 100 percent are possible in long-distance train operations due to dynamic travel patterns within a single train set. “In a single long-distance train journey, one seat can be used by more than one passenger on different routes. This scheme allows the number of passengers served to be greater than the number of available seats on a single journey route,” she explained. Nevertheless, the public still has opportunities to obtain tickets for certain journeys, including through alternative routes, different departure schedules, or onward travel schemes. KAI also urges customers to take advantage of connecting train services and choose more flexible travel dates to increase their chances of securing tickets. “With the remaining capacity, KAI invites the public to immediately plan their Eid travel well so that the homecoming runs more comfortably, smoothly, and enjoyably with the train,” Anne concluded.
