Once Mekel distributes dozens of goats and two cows for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Singer and Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) member Once Mekel distributed sacrificial animals comprising two cows and 25 goats during the Eid al-Adha 1447 AH/2026 CE celebration. Once stated that Eid al-Adha is a prime opportunity to strengthen communal spirit and mutual cooperation. “For me, sacrificing is not only about fulfilling tradition or religious duty for Muslims, but also about those who are well-off sharing and caring for others regardless of background,” Once said in a statement released on Thursday, 28 May. This annual event allows Once to strengthen family ties and share joy with others. This year, the distribution took place in Once’s residential area and various locations across Jakarta, including Tanah Abang, Gambir, Kemayoran, Johar Baru, Cempaka Putih, Sawah Besar, Senen, Kebayoran Lama, and Kebayoran Baru. Once also hopes this initiative will inspire others to support one another, particularly amid the current dynamic economic climate. The slaughter and distribution process was carried out in collaboration with local community leaders, mosque officials, volunteer teams, and political party structures in Central and South Jakarta. This ensures the process is orderly, hygienic, and targeted towards those in need, particularly the elderly, low-income families, and informal workers. “I hope the distributed sacrificial meat brings blessings and smiles to the receiving families. Happy Eid al-Adha; let us continue to uphold sharing and tolerance in society,” said the Head of BKN PDI Perjuangan.
