On the TGPF for the Andrie Yunus Case, Usman Hamid: Two Teams Needed
Jakarta - The Executive Director of Amnesty International Indonesia, Usman Hamid, believes that the formation of a Fact-Finding Team (TPF) to investigate the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus should be carried out through two teams.
He explained that one team could be formed under the President, while the other would be under the House of Representatives (DPR).
“The TPF could be formed in two layers. The first under the President, the second under the DPR, like in the Munir case,” said Usman when met at the Kamisan Action in front of the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026).
“The Munir case was investigated by two investigation teams. The first was formed by the President, the second by the DPR involving Commission I, which handles intelligence and military, and Commission III, which handles law and security,” he revealed.
According to him, the existence of two teams is necessary to create a checks and balances mechanism in the investigation process.
He added that the involvement of the DPR is important as a counterbalance in the process of uncovering the case.
“Therefore, checks and balances are needed, a balance and control from parliament,” said Usman.
For information, Andrie Yunus was doused with acid by personnel from the Indonesian Military’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in Central Jakarta on Thursday night (12/3/2026).
The attack occurred after Andrie finished participating in a podcast recording activity at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI).
One of the perpetrators then threw acid towards Andrie, hitting the victim’s hand, face, chest, and eyes.
As a result of the incident, Andrie suffered serious injuries and had to undergo intensive treatment at the hospital.
