On the Question of Forming a Special Export Body, This Is What the ESDM Says

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - There is circulating speculation that the administration of President Prabowo Subianto will form a Special Export Body for several commodities. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) stressed that it does not know anything about such a formation.

‘I don’t know. And I don’t know what the scheme would be,’ said Tri Winarno, Director General of Mineral and Coal (Dirjen Minerba), when asked at the DPR building on Tuesday (19 May 2026).

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa also said he was unaware. According to him, the matter would be announced directly by President Prabowo Subianto.

‘Well, I don’t know; the President will announce it,’ Purbaya told reporters at his Jakarta office on Tuesday (19 May 2026).

The issue of a special export body has been widely discussed among businesspeople and economists. According to circulating rumours, the body would function as a purchaser of Indonesian-export commodities before they are shipped to buyer countries.

However, it should be noted that the government has not provided detailed information about these rumours. It is nevertheless believed that the matter will be announced tomorrow by the President in a speech delivering the Macro-Economic Framework and the Key Fiscal Policy (KEMPPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN.
