On the Issue of Forming a Special Export Body, Rosan: Wait Until Tomorrow
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The administration of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is rumoured to be forming a Special Export Body for a number of commodities. However, details remain unclear.
Rosan Roeslani, CEO of Danantara Indonesia and also the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, was reluctant to comment further on the issue. ‘Later. Just wait until tomorrow, tomorrow only,’ Rosan said after meeting at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa also said he did not know. According to him, the matter will be announced directly by President Prabowo Subianto.
‘Oh I don’t know, later the President will announce it,’ Purbaya said at his office in Jakarta, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
Similarly, Dirjen Minerba of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources asserted that he was not aware of the formation. ‘I don’t know. And I don’t know what the scheme is,’ said the Director General of Minerals and Coal (Dirjen Minerba) Tri Winarno, when approached at the DPR building on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
The issue of the proposed export body has stirred discussion across various circles, including businesspeople and economists. According to circulating rumours, the body would operate as a buyer of certain Indonesian-export commodities before they are shipped to purchasing countries.
However, it should be noted that the government has not yet provided detailed information regarding the rumours. It is said to be announced tomorrow directly by the President in the DPR during a speech delivering the Macro-Economic Framework and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy (KEMPPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN.
