On-street parking fee still Rp 1,000

JAKARTA: The head of East Jakarta Parking Management, I Made
Sutapa, has confirmed that the official on-street parking fee was
Rp 1,000.

"Parking attendants have been ordered to stick to the official
rate," Made said.

He said that due to a limited number of parking officials, it
was almost impossible for his office to closely monitor parking
fee collection across the country.

"We just rely on complaints from the public because we do not
have enough officers to check parking attendants one by one," he
said.

However, most, if not all, on-street parking attendants were
charging motorists Rp 2,000.

Made said that strict measures would be taken against parking
attendants who charged more. He did not elaborate. --JP
