On religion and unity
On religion and unity
Thank you very much for publishing my letter Religion and
national unity on Dec. 7, 1998. However, a small error in
perception has occurred in the one of the sentences.
A statement in the second paragraph reads: "Actually, not only
were Indonesians tolerant toward other religions, there has never
been an interest in learning about the tenets and epics of other
faiths", which conveys the diametrically opposite meaning of the
original: "Actually, not only were they tolerant toward other
religions, but also evinced keen interest in learning about the
tenets and epics of other faiths."
