On Prabowo's Instructions, Gerindra North Sumatra Distributes 1,000 Takjil Packages Daily
The Gerindra Party in North Sumatra is capitalising on the momentum of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah by launching a charitable distribution programme for the public. Each day, 1,000 packages of takjil and boxed meals are prepared for residents wishing to break their fast.
The activity is centred at the Gerindra North Sumatra provincial board (DPD) office and is open to all. Local residents, passing motorists, and daily labourers have been seen arriving in succession as the evening call to prayer approaches.
Ade Jona Prasetyo, Chairman of Gerindra North Sumatra’s DPD and a member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), affirmed that the initiative reflects the party’s concern for the community during the holy month.
“Gerindra North Sumatra is sharing takjil and preparing iftar meals at the Gerindra office for anyone who wishes to break their fast,” Jona said in a written statement on Sunday (22/2/2026).
He explained that the programme is not merely a ceremonial affair but rather a routine activity consistently carried out every Ramadan. He assured that food distribution is conducted regardless of recipients’ backgrounds.
“It is open to all members of the public,” Jona said.
Echoing this, Gerindra North Sumatra Secretary Sugiat Santoso stated that the party is targeting the distribution of 1,000 meals per day throughout Ramadan.
The initiative extends beyond the provincial level, with the DPR member noting that the same instructions have been issued to all Gerindra district and municipal branches (DPC) across North Sumatra.
“God willing, 1,000 packages will be distributed every day — takjil and boxed meals for iftar throughout Ramadan,” Sugiat said.
“We have instructed all DPCs to do the same. So this activity is being held at both the Gerindra North Sumatra DPD office and Gerindra DPC offices,” he added.
Sugiat further explained that the charitable programme is a follow-up to directives from Gerindra’s General Chairman, Prabowo Subianto, urging all party cadres to maintain a presence among the public, particularly during meaningful occasions such as Ramadan.
“Pak Prabowo always reminds all Gerindra cadres to help the community. This is something we always remember and carry out in North Sumatra,” he said.
Through this programme, Gerindra North Sumatra hopes to ease the burden on residents whilst strengthening communal bonds during the holy month. Each package distributed serves as a symbol of mutual cooperation and social solidarity that continues to be fostered throughout Ramadan.
