On opportunist representatives
On opportunist representatives
From Suara Karya
As a member of the public, I would like to remind all public representatives of a Javanese saying that contains the term Aji mumpung (opportunist).
It clearly forbids the abuse or misuse of power and advises anyone holding an important post to benefit others, meaning the public. Public representatives must also remember that the power in their hands is in fact a sacred mandate, entrusted to them through the election system.
If such opportunistic attitudes prevail among officials, then the eradication of corruption, collusion and nepotism will be impossible and it will be difficult for us to stand proud as a respectable nation.
Wouldn't the honorable representatives like to be labeled true reformists, at least then they would be seen to be better than the previous regime?
