Jakarta - Chair of the PDI-Perjuangan Central Executive Board, Puan Maharani, has spoken out regarding the plans of PDI-Perjuangan General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri to pay respects to President Prabowo Subianto for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

“Insha’Allah, soon,” said Puan when met at the PDI-Perjuangan Central Executive Board office in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3/2026).

On the first day of Eid, Megawati held a halal bihalal event at the PDI-Perjuangan Central Executive Board office. Party cadres and several close relatives attended the event.

Meanwhile, Prabowo and his close associates have not yet been seen visiting Megawati’s home or the event at the PDI-Perjuangan Central Executive Board office.

“(Today’s event) is fine, relaxed, celebrating Eid simply with family and friends,” said Puan.

When met, Puan also briefly conveyed a message to Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr.

“Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum. Forgiveness for all physical and spiritual shortcomings. Happy Eid to everyone,” said Puan.

Previously, PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto was also asked about the planned meeting between Megawati and Prabowo for Eid.

“Ibu Megawati Soekarnoputri has already met with President Prabowo a few days ago. Even the meeting was described by Ibu Mega as ‘old friends’, which took place very cordially, discussing various national and state issues,” said Hasto when met during the halal bihalal.

Hasto said that the meeting demonstrated the character of the nation that prioritises mutual cooperation for the good of the country.

At the halal bihalal event at the PDI-Perjuangan Central Executive Board office, Megawati received several close relatives.

Several ambassadors from friendly countries attended the event, including those from Iran, Palestine, the UK, and the Deputy Ambassador of Russia.

Several relatives known to be close to PDIP also took the time to pay respects.

One of them was Arsjad Rasjid, former Head of the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD Victory Team.

“In this Eid al-Fitr, everyone prioritises the spirit of brotherhood. That is what is emphasised, the spirit of forgiving and being forgiven,” Hasto added.

Before holding the halal bihalal at the PDI-Perjuangan Central Executive Board office, Megawati first received several guests at her home on Jalan Teuku Umar, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Those seen paying respects at Mega’s home were the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno.
