On MBG, Prabowo: I Am Confident I Am on the Right Path!

President Prabowo Subianto is confident that the Makan Bergizi Gratis programme is on the right track. He stated that MBG enables the people to eat and obtain nutrition. “I am absolutely certain that I am on the right path,” said Prabowo in the Prabowo Menjawab broadcast, quoted on Wednesday (25/3/2026). “We have the money. We have the money. I stake my leadership—by 2029, we will see. This is my plan,” Prabowo continued. He recounted witnessing firsthand in villages during campaigns many children suffering from stunting. This became one of the reasons for creating MBG. “I saw, during my campaigns so many times in the villages. I saw a child—how old are you? 11 years old. But the body of a 4-year-old child,” Prabowo explained. Based on Ministry of Finance data, the realisation of the Makan Bergizi Gratis budget absorption reached Rp44 trillion up to 9 March 2026. This amount equals 13.1% of the APBN worth Rp335 trillion. The number of MBG recipients reached 61.62 million with 25,082 SPPG units operational up to 9 March 2026. In detail by region, Sumatra has 12.63 million recipients. Then Java consists of 35.47 million recipients and Kalimantan 2.63 million recipients. Meanwhile, Sulawesi has 4.49 million recipients with Maluku-Papua consisting of 2.88 million recipients. While in Bali-Nusa Tenggara, there are 3.52 million MBG recipients. MBG recipients themselves consist of two groups: students and non-students. Up to the end of February 2026, the number of recipients from the student group reached 49.9 million. Whereas non-student recipients number 10.5 million.
