On-line Mandarin daily launched
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's first online Mandarin newspaper, Zhi Nan Ri Bao, was launched on Thursday.
The new online newspaper is a joint endeavor between The Jakarta Post and Kompas dailies.
Although it has an initial modest appearance, Zhi Nan Ri Bao hopes to develop into a professional publication capable of presenting news and views from an Indonesian perspective.
It is currently supported and facilitated by staff from the two papers.
Presented in Mandarin, the online daily can be read at http://www.zhinanpost.com, or through the Post's own website at http://www.thejakartapost.com.
The new media's mission is aptly reflected in its name Zhi Nan Ri Bao. Zhi Nan means "that which gives direction" and is at the same time a reference to something bright and hopeful.
